Moving through and with pain

What happens when you stop and it doesn't stop? Physical pain turns everything upside down; day and night are out of sync.

Silver Lining transforms this feeling of pain into an exploration of the body - its peculiarities, limitations and abilities. Four dancers move through and with pain, turning it into a motor for self-realization. By combining different styles - breaking, krump and contemporary dance - they express something that cannot be put into words.

Silver Lining is a moving portrait of four bodies that share their pain with each other and with the audience while offering each other support.

About Constantin Trommlitz

Constantin Trommlitz (1996) is a German dancer, choreographer and filmmaker. His background in movement is in breakdance, an artform he cites as the prime influence on his work. After coming to The Netherlands, he started performing for many different companies, including Danstheater AYA, ISH Collective and many more. Since 2022, Constantin has been an individual artist in residency at Korzo.

Along this journey, Constantin met Zino Schat, the founder of Fractal Collective. He supported the collective for many years with both his performance and film work. Searching for his own identity as a maker, Constantin found that his knowledge and abilities in both dance and film can be merged in unconventional ways to tell personal stories.

Chronic pain and dance

With his earlier work Antibodies (2024) that premiered during the annual “Here We Live And Now” program, he already shared his relationship with chronic pain. In “Antibodies,” Constantin transformed the limitation of pain into an engine for self-expression and virtuosity. The duet merged elements of Breaking and Contemporary dance into an innovative movement language that highlights the sensitive relationship between the dancers and their own stories of pain.
