Cirque Mania #20: RITA

Duration 50 min
Part of Cirque Mania

Balance tea in a 25m2 room

You know that little voice in your head? But of course you do! It has a conversation, even when you don't want it. Rita reveals the tragic comedy behind your and her inner voice while preparing a cup of tea to try and keep the peace. A voice constantly searching for balance. A voice that starts a conversation with, well, eh... itself! In this performance you will be treated to Chinese mouth balancing, limitless trapeze work and Magie Nouvelle, a more modern kind of magic. At some point you no longer know what’s real and what is not: the lines between circus and reality blurring. And that’s exactly what butters Annika & Julia’s bread.

Rita & Rita is a contemporary circus company founded in 2019 by Annika Hemmerling and Júlia Campistany. They are known for their very own style full of absurd images, intertwined bodies and surreal scenes. Using traditional Chinese mouth balance and a rotating dance trapeze, they take the audience into the world of their character Rita. Their work has been shown at Zirkus ON and Circustad Festival and, of course, in Korzo as well!
