What does a physical memory sound like?
Suppose you portray the body using a worn instrument. And you let the audience see, feel and hear how all the experiences the body has in life are recorded and remembered. Then you have more or less captured the core of the new solo performance ‘Lijf’ van Perforator. Fascinating, isn't it? This curious international ensemble was formed by Kayva van Gangelen - member of s t a r g a z e - and run by sound artist Akim Moiseenkov. Their team consists of director Marijn van der Jagt, composer Bec Plexus (half of No Plexus), scenographer Catharina Scholten, costume designer Sanne Lips and creative technologist Fedde ten Berge. A performance that is tailor-made for anyone with a body.
Expanding Arabic Future Music
Nadah’s singing is hypnotic and her music intensely lively, sometimes even euphoric. In her deep songs we hear traditional Arabic influences but it also sounds like music from the distant future. With her compositions full of mystical melodies, she builds a sound with her acoustic and electronic instruments that becomes bigger and bigger. We see her perform in a duo with producer 3Phaz who, like her, draws from his Egyptian roots. She graced the stage of Rewire in 2023 together with Elvin Brandhi, and is now back to enchant us again.
Smoky film music with a hint of Lynch
Step into a beautiful but harsh world with the atmospheric music of Eli Keszler. This composer and percussionist was nominated for a Grammy, worked with Oneohtrix Point Never, and will now perform at the Prinsenstraat. With his music, Eli envelops us in a kind of dark film. A noir scene full of that David Lynch-like heaviness that has something moving and beautiful at the same time. With scraping drums that creep along the rhythmic edges of his songs and echoing melodies that keep you on your toes. Oblique, smoky, jazzy, fuzzy.
