A packed dancefloor in the mix with ambient and roaring engines
Every spring, Rewire Festival takes over The Hague with a programme filled to the brim with exciting and adventurous music. International artists and even Grammy Award-winners come to The Hague to perform. But the festival doesn’t limit itself to one event per year: during Rewire x Korzo we serve you a slice of Rewire here at Korzo. With ambient, contemporary music, classical music, electronica or performance art: Rewire x Korzo is a must for every music lover with a adventurous taste. Coming edition we present American musician and composer Rachika Nayar and ENGINE, a new liveshow by Liz Harris (Grouper) under her moniker Nivhek.
Rachika Nayar is a American musician and composer who made waves last year with the release of her second album Heaven Come Crashing. By taking the all-encompassing, overwhelming experience of a rave and plunging it into hazy ambient soundscapes, Nayar combines the bodily sensation of a packed dance floor with the reflexivity of an ambient show. Clouded in fog, Rachika Nayar processes her guitar and turns its sounds into thick layers of music – sometimes crystalline and lush, at other times murky and oblique. Performed live, her music allows for total immersion.
Liz Harris is well known to the Rewire audience: last year she played the festival as Grouper. This year she returns to The Hague under her moniker as Nivhek. Accompanied by visuals from filmmaker Takashi Makino, she is presenting a new live show called ENGINE. Nivhek’s new work is heavily informed by train and car engine noise from drag races, and features synths and other electronics.
