Holland Dance Festival: Please Hold My Hand

Maker Compagnie Tiuri
Duration 60 min
Part of Holland Dance Festival

‘Inspired by all the women we love – here, there, anywhere.’

Holland Dance Festival shares a special bond with Compagnie Tiuri and is a proud partner of this remarkable company. Please Hold My Hand is the latest creation by Compagnie Tiuri.

This poetic dance performance speaks of the strength of womanhood, the courage and vulnerability it carries, and the ability to keep believing in the small gestures that make us human. From this starting point, an evening unfolds like a visual poem about women who show us how connection and harmony keep the world in motion – especially when fear threatens to silence it.

Four dancers move like waves through a landscape of flower petals, guided by the rhythm of the seasons. Artistic director Jordy Dik weaves in the philosophy of Emmanuel Levinas, who spoke of unexpected gestures of kindness, and reveals how such moments glow within the stories of women. In a hand that holds yours lies an act of love, resistance, and hope.

Please Hold My Hand is therefore a kiss to the hands of those who came before us, an embrace of unspoken dreams, and a mirror to what we risk forgetting time and again: an ode to all the women we love – here, there, everywhere.

Compagnie Tiuri is a leading dance-theatre company that explores human truth and celebrates the beauty of expression. Under the direction of choreographer and artistic leader Jordy Dik – winner of the BNG Bank Dance Award 2023, participant in the Fast Forward programme of Fonds Podiumkunsten, and nominee for the Innovation Prize 2025 – the company tours with productions that bring raw, moving, and visually layered human stories to life.

With a diverse cast of performers, with and without disabilities, Tiuri creates a universal language in which every individual embodies their own strength. Their exceptional performers move audiences through authenticity, honesty, and ensemble work, leaving an unforgettable impression.
