Jump into PAKMAN’s truck
PAKMAN lives faster than a mouse can click. Drives around the country to deliver packages – always precisely on time. 1 package, 2 forms, 3 stamps, 6 autographs, 450 times a day, 159.750 packages a year, with 10 holidays in return. PAKMAN is a sole and invisible man in our virtual economy. On board of his small truck, PAKMAN invites the audience for a rhythmical circus performance.
PAKMAN is a duel between the rhythms of juggler Stijn Grupping and drummer Frederik Meulyzer. Together they explore the hastiness of ‘our’ time. How does this imposed speed oppose our natural rhythms such as breathing and heartbeat? Stijn and Frederik let the rhythms and routines of their bouncing balls and drums dialogue. Their instruments harmonize and clash.
The truck of PAKMAN has room for twenty-five spectators, who may come on board for an intense live music experience.
Remark: This show will take place in a truck on Lange Voorhout 5, Den Haag.
Post uit Hessdalen (PUH) is the company of juggler and video maker Stijn Grupping and director Ine Van Baelen. Together they create hybrid performances centered on juggling with bouncing balls and (live) music. Their circus and musical theatre is lauded internationally for its attention to detail, technical ingenuity and interplay with the rhythm and drums of musician Frederik Meulyzer.
Adopting a pared-down performance language, PUH seeks out ways of representing phenomena such as time, space and our virtual future on stage. For example, by literally trying to escape time, or by making the rhythm of the economic rat race tangible using bouncing balls, or by sharing the stage with musical robots.

Cirque Mania #19
Circus is growing, circus is blossoming! Cirque Mania presents all the emerging developments in circus theatre (New Circus). A festival that showcases all the depths and surprising elements of the genre. Because circus is by and for everyone who doesn't want to put themselves in a box. Unless that's your act of course. This edition puts the human body centre stage from Tuesday 20th March, 25 up to Sunday 23th March, 25.
Festival Dag in de Branding in The Hague offers an introduction to the latest in contemporary music. Three times a year, the city’s leading music venues, the Residentie Orkest and various ensembles organise this festival full of discoveries at different locations across the city. Today’s makers take centre stage. Meet the composers and chat with the musicians after the show. What fascinates them and how is that reflected in their work?
On the programme you can expect to see established names, but also – and especially –promising young talents, such as the festival’s makers-in-residence. Visit the festival for a cross-section view of what’s happening in music today.
