Taking risks with a body that knows how to fall
Every act of balance is, by nature, unstable. But in OVVIO, that instability is pushed even further as planks, beams, and wooden structures are continuously built up and taken apart. Risk is unavoidable as David & Tomas repeatedly put each other in real danger. With impressive control of their bodies and a mastery of falling, fear is constantly tested and overcome.

David & Tomas are multidisciplinary circus artists specializing in balance and the manipulation of everyday objects. After graduating from Cirko Vertigo, they founded Kolektiv Lapso Cirk in 2016, an international contemporary circus collective that also includes Veronica Capozzoli, Léa Legrand, and Carla Carnerero.

David Diez Mendez is a Spanish artist from Valladolid. He graduated from both Carampa and Cirko Vertigo, specializing in juggling and Cyr wheel. He currently works mainly within Kolektiv Lapso Cirk, which he co-founded. In OVVIO, he continues his exploration of balance by working with raw materials and everyday objects.

Tomas Vaclavek is a Slovak artist based in Stockholm. He completed a master’s degree in contemporary circus at DOCH, the only program of its kind, where he experimented with new ideas. After graduating, he became interested in redefining the relationship with objects and continues to seek the extraordinary within the ordinary.
