in het kader van Earth Hour
Duration 60 min

One pitch: Birds for distortion and mouth synthesizers.

On March 29, vocalist and singer Sofia Jernberg returns to Korzo for a solo concert that will challenge your senses. With her unconventional techniques, she is able to draw the most unique sounds from her voice.

This unique concert is part of Earth Hour, a global movement aimed at slowing down the earth by turning off the lights. In complete darkness, Sofia creates a listening experience that amplifies your ears and activates your other senses. Instead of using your eyes, you will focus entirely on what you hear. You will lose yourself in the subtleties of sound and create a deeper awareness of the musical world around you.

You can experience the concert in different ways: lying down, sitting on a cushion, or simply from the bleachers. The choice is yours.

Inspired by Earth Hour and Earth Day, this evening invites reflection on our relationship with the planet, the role of silence, and the beauty of the invisible. It is a celebration of the senses, of the earthly energy that connects us, and of the art of standing still together and being mindful of what is essential.

Sofia Jernberg, born in Ethiopia and grew up in Ethiopia, Vietnam and Sweden, is a singer and composer. Central to her work are unconventional techniques and sounds with focus on the human acoustic voice. Touching themes like identity, internationality, origin, belonging as well as a strong belief in communion and collaboration. Music theatre and contemporary opera play a significant part in her artistic oeuvre. She received several commissions as a composer and collaborates with visual artists and film makers.

Can one hour change the world? Impossible. It is only one hour. But what if all over the world, for one hour, millions of people did something good for nature and our future?

One hour when millions of people around the world take action - from Sydney to Scheveningen. One hour when lights go out everywhere - from the Erasmus Bridge to the Eiffel Tower.

One hour that connects cities, countries and continents to stand up for our fragile nature. One hour that sets an example for all the hours to come. One hour for more nature. We face great challenges but together we stand strong. Can one hour change the world? It is a start and it is up to us. So give also one hour for more nature: turn off the lights for one hour on Saturday, March 22 at 8:30 p.m. during WWF-Earth Hour.
