A dance performance about what happens when almost nothing remains
Na de Stilte is a poetic and penetrating call to look at our world with open eyes, and to consider what we want to preserve for the future.
Imagination shifts to a distant future. The earth has fallen silent. The seas are empty, the trees have vanished, and plastic lies everywhere like a strange kind of snow. Amid the remnants of what was once a vibrant world lives a single person: the last woodkeeper. Among the waste, he searches for something that still holds meaning – memories of what once was, fragments of wood that he treasures as though they were precious relics.
Through dance and spoken word, this last person tells his story. A story of longing and hope. Of caring for what is fragile. Of what we may lose, or perhaps still save, if we commit to it together.
About the collaboration
At every edition, Holland Dance Festival works closely with companies in The Hague. This collaboration is rooted in the festival’s history: since its founding in 1987, the festival has not only offered an international stage for dance, but also a platform for local makers who give dance in The Hague its colour and meaning. In doing so, they show, alongside major international productions, the strength of our own city – a city where dance lives, vibrates and thrives.
Lonneke van Leth Dans is The Hague’s youth dance company, telling stories through modern dance, often in combination with theatre and film. Their productions spark the senses, touch the heart and stimulate the imagination, with themes that connect to the world and experience of young audiences.
