I & I
Season 26-27 |
Here We Live and Now is the perfect opportunity for dance lovers to discover new voices in the field. Each year, Korzo and Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) invite three promising choreographers to create a performance. It’s an intense process where everything is pushed to the limit and artists often surpass their own expectations. During Here We Live and Now, you can admire three brand-new works.
In their creations, the selected makers explore how personal stories, collective energy, and shared rhythms can reinforce one another. Discover dance that opens space for interaction and curiosity.
The three choreographers of this edition are:
Zenon Zubyk
Chandenie Gobardhan
Keshaw Manna
Here We Live and Now is part of I & I, in which we explore the idea that each individual is part of a larger whole and experience what it feels like to be carried by dance, music, and rhythm.
De Makers
Zenon Zubyk
Zenon is a Canadian-born choreographer, director, and performance artist working at the intersection of dance and theatre. He has danced professionally with international contemporary companies, including Ballet BC, GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, and most recently Nederlands Dans Theater 1.
In his own work, the body becomes a site for off-axis and existential inquiry, juxtaposing internal rhythms with states of nonchalance and rebound. Resisting passive spectatorship, he crafts tangible atmospheres that are felt rather than merely observed. By capturing the essence of rehearsal within the act of performing, Zenon blurs the boundary between process and presentation, provoking questions about where the performance begins and ends.
Chandenie Gobardhan
Chandenie Gobardhan is a London-based, Netherlands-born artist known for their unique movement vocabulary. Their style is a carefully curated melting pot where elements of Bharata Natyam, street styles, and contemporary dance come together.
Keshaw Manna
Keshaw Manna is a dancer, performer, and creator from The Hague with over 15 years of experience. Trained at the Creative College in Utrecht's urban dance program, he developed a powerful movement language based on hip hop and breakdance, interweaving influences from krump, house, litefeet, popping, ballet, and martial arts. For Keshaw, dance is more than just movement—it is a means of connecting with the audience, confronting and touching them.
