Juggling solo in a world turned strange
In ECLIPSE, Léo Rousselet creates an intimate, dreamlike, and surprising juggling solo with minimal means, in which light, objects, and perception play by their own rules. What starts as a familiar situation slowly shifts into an absurd universe where nothing seems normal. It feels a bit like when you first looked at a solar eclipse through a chip bag as a child and, for a brief moment, the world seemed transformed.
Minimalist decor, philosophical play, and a sense of wonder
A chair sits on the floor beneath a hanging lamp. The cord of a light switch dangles nearby. Old tango music drifts softly through the space and everything appears carefully arranged. Beneath that single lamp sits a man, completely alone. As the light switches on and off, reality begins to change as well. In the darkness, a juggling ball appears. But what if what the darkness gives... it can also take away? What happens when cause and effect lose their grip and everything that once felt familiar becomes increasingly strange?
Léo Rousselet’s ECLIPSE will leave you on the edge of your seat, watching in wonder.
Born in Caen (14) in 1992, Léo studied music at the universities of Rennes 2, Prague and Paris 8 where he obtained his Masters in Musical and Sound Creation in 2015. As soon as he graduated, he worked for a year at the Maison des Jonglages and began professional training at the Toulouse circus arts centre, the LIDO. He perfected and expanded his practice of juggling, which he has been practicing since the age of 14.
He completed his training at LIDO in 2018, and now works as a juggler, musician and builder in various shows. He has been playing the 25-minute form of ECLIPSE since 2019, and now developed it into a longer form.
