A surprising bonbon
Three athletic bodies, three movements and the dazzling possibilities. The partner acrobatic trio Knot on Hands works from the irrepressible pulse of movement, creating and recreating their movement material. And then there are those gems, a principle of a movement like the chocolate bonbon that does not reveal its filling, the carefully wrapped gift whose shape cannot be guessed, that plot-driven story that has no end. The poetic and physical performance CONCRETE unravels a movement time and again that is like a perpetual motion machine without end.
The trio from the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium met at Codarts Circus Arts in Rotterdam and since then Britt Timmermans (1997), Mario Kunzi (1993) and Tijs Bastiaens (1997) have formed Knot on Hands. From an early age they were fascinated by partner acrobatics.
After graduating in 2017, they brought a first version of their debut performance Brace for Impact to Back to Base, TENT's biennial evening for young talent. Since then, they have been on tour with the performance, won the BNG Bank Circus Prize in 2019, the Special Prize of the 7 Fingers Company at the Young Stage Festival in Basel and developed the film and site-specific performance PASSING BY in collaboration with Circusstad Festival Rotterdam in 2022. As a collective, they also play in performances by other artists such as in Bello! By the Italian company Fabbrica C and in Manchines by Camiel Corneille. In 2023 to 2024 they are Makers for two years at TENT.
