An acrobatic dance through a hallucinatory universe
Blow a Wish is an acrobatic dance performance inside a Plexiglas box that you're free to move around while you wonder what strange and dreamlike world is unfolding before your eyes. Between transparent walls, floating balloons, and deep-seated desires, Meike Munch moves as if gravity follows a different set of rules. Her body stretches, trembles, and twists into unexpected shapes, as though multiple forces are pulling at her at once – just as our desires can propel us forward and hold us captive.
Performance art that frees desire from expectation
As you move around the box, you decide which angle to explore this fascinating spectacle from. That makes Blow a Wish the kind of performance art that turns your own perception into part of the story. Developed in collaboration with the Danish artistic platform Hangar People, the box reveals how the dreams we pursue can sometimes limit us rather than set us free. So should we instead settle for boredom and unfulfilled wishes?
Meike Munch is a German choreographer and acrobat with a deep fascination for the physical possibilities of the human body. In her work, she explores the intersection of partnering in dance and circus. From the age of twelve, she trained extensively in partner and group acrobatics, including at CircArtive School. Her focus later shifted toward dance, leading her to study at Balettakademien in Stockholm and ArtEZ University of the Arts.
Emotional expression lies at the heart of her work. Through movement, Meike creates visual and metaphorical worlds that leave room for the audience's own interpretation and imagination. In 2025, Meike founded the Falling Club, a movement collective of eight like-minded artists from across Europe, based in the Netherlands. Together they create interdisciplinary performances, run workshops, and explore new forms of artistic collaboration.
