Theatre of the future

Every season we bring everyone connected to Korzo together to explore what theater will look like in the future

The theater is pre-eminently the place to depict other worlds so that we dream away or learn from them. But what will the Theater, as a building, as an artform, as a community, look like in the future?

On February 5, in the coldest month of the year, we will launch the Theater of the Future. This will be a recurring programme in which we will spend a week focusing on a threat or crisis and explore how it affects us, our audience and (the) theater.

This first edition we are focusing on the following question:
What if energy cannot be taken for granted?

How do you make a performance then? And what does life look like? What does it mean for the choices you make? What gives us energy in the physical sense? In this week, Korzo invites makers to search for possibilities in its studios. The Korzo staff questions its own working methods and investigates where it could possibly be more sustainable. The performances and post-performance discussions with the audience waste as little energy as possible or even generate energy.

At the end of the week on Saturday February 11, the creators and staff will present their findings. What insights are we richer for? What will we take with us into the future? And what will we let go of?
