TAIFUN is a one-day whirlwind in which contemporary dance is reimagined by artists with Asian backgrounds. It’s a celebration of recognition for some, and for others an entirely new world unfolding before their eyes—but above all, it’s a space where heritage and expression meet and flow together in a dynamic current.
TAIFUN is curated by dancer and Korzo resident artist Tú Hoàng. For this second edition, you’ll once again encounter artists rooted in diverse regions across Asia. They move freely between styles and disciplines, drawing from tradition while also questioning and reimagining it. The result is a rich, expansive language of movement, at once powerful and gentle, spiritual and rational, complex and minimal.
The full program will be announced soon. Keep an eye on this page!
Tú Hoàng is a dancer, choreographer, and artistic director of TAIFUN, born in Vietnam. He started practicing kung fu at the age of ten, which sparked his fascination with movement. He later studied classical ballet at the Vietnam National Dance Academy. In 2007, he moved to Europe to further develop his practice in contemporary dance, first as a performer and, from 2010 onward, increasingly as a choreographer. In his work, he searches for a personal movement language in which Eastern influences like kung fu and tai chi merge with hip-hop, ballet, and contemporary dance.
With works such as Trial and False Memories, Tú has won multiple international choreography awards, including competitions in Seoul, Hannover, and Masdanza. He has also performed with renowned companies such as the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet, Regensburg Ballett, Ballett Pforzheim, and Conny Janssen Danst.
