SuperGnawa Girls channels the hypnotic power of the guembri, the driving rhythm of the qraqeb, and the spiritual energy of Gnawa rituals in an exciting blend of jazz and fusion. But the group is also making a statement. As an all-female Gnawa collective, these artists are claiming their place within a centuries-old tradition historically dominated by men. The collective brings together three passionate artists from different parts of Morocco: Halima Boulkhair El Gourd from Tangier, Ijjo Bejaoui from Agadir, and Fatima Zahra Jebli from Essaouira.
Each artist brings her own roots, sensitivities, and regional identity to the stage. Together, they create a musical world steeped in spirituality and culture – one that stays true to the essence of Gnawa while embracing the spirit of today.
SuperGnawa Girls emerged from Digital Lila 2025, an initiative of the Holland Gnawa Festival in partnership with Gnaoua Culture. The project was conceived and developed by the Holland Gnawa Festival as part of its mission to connect cultures through music and nurture emerging talent.
Marmoucha Orchestra brings together passionate musicians united by their love of music and the rich variety of musical languages, styles, and traditions found across Southwest Asia, North Africa, and the Mediterranean. Led by Arin Keshishi, they perform compositions that both honor and reimagine the musical tradition. Through numerous successful projects, Marmoucha Orchestra has developed a signature sound that is turning heads around the world.
