With its colourful cast, dance company Kalpanarts lets Indian and Western contemporary dance forms take flight as one. Supported by the intense live rhythms of HIIIT, you are carried into a deeply human search of our time.
Dancers who propel, break, and reconnect
A flock of birds has no leader or fixed hierarchy, yet it forms breathtaking precision when flying as one body. In Winged, dancers continuously form shifting constellations. They propel one another, catch each other, break out of structures, and return again. The tension between autonomy and connection becomes physically tangible, amplified by music that deepens the experience.
Live rhythm by HIIIT as the engine of choreography
In this production by Kalpanarts, rhythmic patterns, live energy, and layered compositions form the beating heart of the choreography. Indian influences meet Western sound worlds, creating a hypnotic flow in which body and sound become one, like migrating birds moving toward a shared destination.
Kalpanarts is a contemporary dance company with a diverse cast and creative community. Choreographer and artistic director Kalpana Raghuraman (also creative associate at Het Nationale Ballet) and artistic associate and managing director Gysèle ter Berg bring a distinctive voice to the stage.
Their work blends Indian dance traditions with Western contemporary forms. Through refined footwork, hand gestures, and rhythmic precision, they create a powerful, contemporary movement language that continues to surprise and transport audiences.
