While Taking Shape

Maker Amparo González Sola
Duration 60 min

Capturing our gaze

This is one of those dance performances that literally captures your gaze. As a spectator, the movements you make while watching are picked up by the performers, transformed and brought back to life. This creates an interplay of perception, feeling, distance & closeness. A counter-reaction by creator Amparo González Sola to the continuous stream of images that we consume daily without context, but which certainly have an effect on us. Experience the effect our body has on others and learn to notice the small movements that can have a big impact.

Amparo González Sola is an Argentinian choreographer and dancer based in The Netherlands. Her work goes from dance performances to participative projects and is influenced by her participation in feminist activism and her experience of migration. She did the master DAS Choreography (AHK, 2022). She premiered “The conspiracy of forms”  (2023), and “If every rock is a hole” (2022) within the Spring Performing Arts Festival where While Taking Shape will also be performed. She developed the participative project “Exploring Reciprocity”(2019-2023, Residenties in Utrecht), bringing together people from different backgrounds, generations, and disciplines.
