Tidal Wave

Makers Charles Pas & Roshanak Morrowatian
Duration 60 min

What’s left after the wave breaks?

In this duet, makers Roshanak Morrowatian and Charles Pas share their scars without hesitation. Taken by a tidal wave of survival mechanisms, they search for the limits of their play. What's left after the wave breaks?

This creates a quest in which the unmentionable is made tangible in a sharp, choreographic language, where distress can be a soothing element and where emotion can be found in the grimmest of scenes.

Our traumas are different and beyond our control, but is it possible to see them as a fragile force afterwards? Can my pain also be your pain?

Roshanak Morrowatian (Iran, 1989) draws attention to unnoticed details, invisible people and forgotten stories in her work. With her company Rover, she creates interdisciplinary dance performances based on social commitment. As an artist, Morrowatian explores the physicality of memories, the fluidity of traditions, and diasporic identity. Her work has been awarded the BNG Bank Dance Award and the Dutch Dance Days Award, among others.

Charles Pas (Belgium, 1998) creates performances at the intersection of performance, absurd theatre and magical realism with his Studio FCP. The existential dilemmas of contemporary life are exposed in a physical play between dream and reality. With melancholy and humor, Pas draws his spectators into a sensory world that only exists in that moment.
