From a perishing body into a brand new one
In a not so distant future, a dying man's brain is successfully uploaded into a young body. When it just so happens that remnants of the previous owner’s spirit are still present in the body, a battle ensues between dance and written vocabulary, with the newly created creature at stake.
In her new performance, choreographer Dunja Jocic interrogates the rapidly accelerating technological developments. Recently, prominent figures from all over the world called for a six-month break in the development of AI. Time is needed to think about the effects of these rapid developments within our society, and it takes time to prepare an ethics handbook. With Previous Owner + Bird, Jocic offers us a glimpse into our near future, posing an ethical question about what might lie ahead.
In her work as a choreographer, Dunja Jocic brings together different disciplines to create a unique choreographic and cinematic experience on stage. As a multidisciplinary maker, she creates contradictions that evoke reflection in the viewer, with stories that 'go under the skin'. Her atmospheric pieces are metropolitan and cinematically surreal. The ink of her choreographies produces a unique form of 'danse noire'. The common thread in her work is a sense of alienation in modern life.
