That armour in your closet looks very enticing and safe, but what if you refuse to toughen up with this world? How do you retain the softness in your body? How do you continue to open yourself up to connect with others? Can we offer tender resistance together?
Choreographer and Leo Spreksel Award winner Faizah Grootens never shies away from emotions. In her latest duet Tender Resistance, she and her dancers explore the power of tenderness and how complicated it is to remain vulnerable in a world full of conflict, judgement and harshness.
About Faizah Grootens
Faizah proceeds like a sculptor: by eliminating and leaving out, a pure line remains. That sculptural clarity never becomes predictable, however, because her intuition and her Caribbean roots are the source of the distinctive flow in her work. That combination gives Faizah a layered signature and makes her a promise for the future.
