The Bold Experiments of a New Generation of Composers
On May 31, the annual Spring Festival for new music returns to Korzo! This iconic festival, organized by the Composition department of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, has been a key platform for the newest generation of composers for decades.
During the Spring Festival, the students from the Composition department will present their latest works, which have never been performed before. Expect groundbreaking, experimental, and unpredictable compositions, as well as multidisciplinary works that blend visual art, theater, and design.
KABK + KC Soundscapes
This year, composition students from the Royal Conservatoire, in collaboration with art students from the Royal Academy of Art (KABK), will present unique, genre-crossing works that explore the boundaries of music, sound, visuals, and technology.
You’ll experience an exciting mix of disciplines, with creators playing new instruments they built themselves in the workshops of KABK, using materials like metal, textiles, wood, ceramics, and 3D printing technology. This collaboration adds undeniable value to the Spring Festival, connecting immaterial elements like sound, music, and imagery with tangible objects in a playful way.
A Celebration of Young Talent
The Spring Festival is a unique opportunity to see the greatest composition talents of the Royal Conservatoire in their element. Young composers present themselves to a wide audience with innovative ideas and bold experiments. This festival is not only a platform for students but also an exploration for anyone who is inspired by the power of new music.
This year, the Spring Festival begins on March 31 at Korzo and runs until April 4, with five days filled with inspiring and groundbreaking performances.
