Five Sims-like avatars in a polished world
with a dystopian twist

In the year the world didn’t end after all, the computer game The Sims 2000 was released, letting players create virtual people (‘Sims’), build their homes, and control their every move. In Sorry not Sorry, MANCO cracks open this universe and pulls you into an energetic and absurdist dance performance. Ready to escape reality – only to be confronted with it all over again?

In a glossy game world, the five performers train all the essential skills. But when the pool ladder suddenly vanishes and an intense mirror session fails to boost their charisma, their fun meter takes a nosedive. After a dance party spirals out of control, it’s time for more autonomy and another new skill: learning to say sorry. In a whirlwind of over-the-top, hilarious apologies, they discover that saying sorry is an art form in its own right. How different is this simulated world from our own lives?

MAN || CO is physical, theatrical, and energetic. The four-member Amsterdam dance collective is fascinated by what moves people and how they relate to themselves, others, and society. Their theatrical dance performances with their signature feel-good style have one foot in the world of fantasy and one foot in reality.

MAN || CO tackles social and societal themes, exposing the awkwardness and vulnerability of the human spirit. On stage, expressive characters navigate familiar settings and each other. The collective believes that humor is the key to reflection and uses it in pursuit of its secret mission: inspiring greater compassion.
