“Become the strongest version of yourself. Be your own guru. The body achieves what the mind believes. It always hurts before it gets better”
HipSick operates at the intersection of performance and installation art. #ShapeME is a performative installation that deals with different perspectives on the virtual identity. After PUPPIES FOR SALE, the trilogy Some Say Morality is Negotiable continues with #ShapeME. This part emphasizes the performer’s own relationship to the fabricated real, the makeability of the body, and the psychological effects these concepts have on us. Does your life matter if you don’t continuously show it off online? If others can’t see how fit you are and how perfect your skin looks?
About HipSick
HipSick operates at the intersection of performance and installation art. The work often starts from a fascination with Western visual culture, normativity, and the night. Contemporary social topics are approached from different perspectives, decontextualized and abstracted, which results in performances that aim to destabilize the viewer's perception. The collective is known for extremely visual, brutal performances, artistic rawness and confrontational, personal subjects. HipSick has an unique movement idiom, in which the body and the physical endurance of the performer is central.
