This evening of dance, music, circus, and performance art is a tribute to makers from The Hague: surprising, versatile, diverse, and full of character. At Playground, you come face to face with the raw energy and boldness of local talent in short performances. From music to dance, circus to drag, and every possible combination in between. Perfect for people with a short attention span and an open mind. 

Supporting emerging makers under the radar through provocative performances Every year, Korzo receives dozens of applications for Playground from emerging makers with a connection to The Hague. A local jury selects four artists who present their work on Korzo’s professional stage during Playground. They are also supported with additional visibility and the opportunity to reach a warm and engaged audience. 

In this way, Playground becomes a platform, or rather a playground, where local makers dare, dream, and do.

What does Playground offer?

• The opportunity to present your work at Korzo Theatre in The Hague. 

• A fee of €300 per person, up to a maximum of €900 (excluding VAT and including travel expenses). 

• Technical support during setup, rehearsals and the performance. 

• Professional photo and video content to help promote your work and introduce yourself as an artist. 

• A feedback and advisory session focused on your artistic development. 

Who is Playground for?

We're looking for artists who:

• Have a strong connection to The Hague region (including Delft, Zoetermeer and Rijswijk). This means you live, work or create in the area.

• Would benefit from presenting their work at Playground as part of the development of a piece or their artistic practice. We are therefore not looking for works that have already completed a tour.

• Have an existing work in progress that they wish to further develop, or a concept for a performance of up to 15 minutes, suitable for a performance space measuring 10 x 10 metres. Can provide either: a video of the complete performance (maximum 15 minutes), or a shorter video excerpt that gives a clear impression of the work, accompanied by a description of the concept. Smartphone recordings are welcome.

• Are available for the content creation day on 7 October and the Playground performance on 6 November.

Application & Selection 

Applications are open until Sunday 13 September. 

All applicants will be informed of the selection outcome by 28 September. 

Please note 

• You may not apply with a piece that has been submitted to Playground before. 

• Only one application per artist/maker will be accepted. 

• Artists are responsible for the production and practical requirements of their own work.
