The music scene of the Hague is in bloom

In Bloom is a concert series in Korzo curated by Hague-based composer Lise Morrison. She curates and presents a showcase of young musicians, projects, performers and makers, developed by her peers from the music and art scene of The Hague. This night sees performances by two composers and one duo: Guillermo Almo Martín Viana, Leah Plave & Tiziano Teodori and Arefeh Hekmatpanah.

Cellist Leah Plave and flutist, electroacoustic composer and sound operator Tiziano Teodori team up for this special performance. The two met in 2020 in The Netherlands as members of a multidisciplinary music collective, Linen of Words; an ensemble featuring American folk repertoire for voice, cello, flute, bass, and electronics. After successfully touring and recording with the ensemble, the duo developed a strong background as collaborators and realized many shared artistic ambitions in fusing genres and exploring electronic sound. Their debut as a duo was a performance at the Sound Art Festival in Den Haag last year.

Arefeh Hekmatpanah (*1997 Esfahan, Iran) is a pianist, composer, performer and poet, focused on bringing potentials of her cultural heritage into pieces of music and performance. She works with multiple disciplines, such as dance, theater and electronic music and has improvisation alongside detailed composition as a main element present in her works.

Arefeh studied classical piano performance at University of Tehran and then continued her education majoring in composition for her Masters degree at the same university. Arefeh has worked with ensembles and orchestras such as Riot Ensemble, HIIIT, and Residentie Orkest.
