On Friday, 23 February 2024, we are celebrating! That is when it will be exactly 40 years since cinema Corso was squatted and transformed into theater Korzo. A place where so much has taken place and been organized over the past four decades, from wild parties to eye-opening productions, with dance, music, exhibitions and festivals.
And we'd like to celebrate that anniversary with you. During our anniversary program 'Korzo was Corso: celebrating 40 years of an adventurous theater' we will show you how Korzo has developed through different generations and is still evolving.
Hart, Kwink, Moker
During the anniversary program, Korzo presents a cross-section of forty years of Korzo, with former makers, current makers and new makers. And with iconic works in a new guise: for example, Anouk van Dijk returns to Korzo to perform her Hart, Kwink, Moker. Hart, Kwink, Moker was choreographer Anouk van Dijk's first independent production in 1994. In this piece, the then 28-year-old choreographer wondered how to relate to a world with endless choices that had finally become accessible to women. A performance that made clearly palpable how vulnerable and persistent young women are in their search for their own sound.
Anouk van Dijk reunites the original cast and will perform the piece with Daniela Graca and Nicole Peisl. Thirty years after the premiere, they bring female defiance into a new light, looking back at younger versions of themselves.
Program announced!
Host Hasan Gök will lead us through the evening and will have conversations with makers, important Korzo figures and a Spoken Word of his own that he makes especially for Korzo. Furthermore, the program consists of the following performances:

"To me, Korzo is a home and cultural hotspot all in one. With dance, music and theater, we conquer the world from The Hague. We chafe along the edges, tumble over them and always spring back. This has been Korzo's DNA for forty years and should be celebrated. Come along, look back into the future and meet each other in Korzo!"
