Tomorrow’s Dance Visionaries
With Club Guy & Roni invites: A Clash, you’ll see two completely different works in one afternoon by some of today’s most promising dance makers: JA Collective and Mats van Rossum & Rebecca Laufer.
The internationally acclaimed dance company Club Guy & Roni invites only makers who truly have something to say with interdisciplinary work that moves audiences on a deeper level.
JA Collective
This collective, known for collaborations with artists including Paul McCartney, Katy Perry and The Weeknd, presents an intimate and sensory work about attention, visibility and vulnerability. With experimental lighting design, music by Current Joys and a series of intimate scenes, Jordan Johnson and Aidan Carberry explore the tension between wanting to appear and wanting to disappear.
Mats van Rossum & Rebecca Laufer
This duo takes you into a dark, messy and magical world where childhood memories, underdog existence and surreal figures come to life. Their idiosyncratic mix of physical theatre and dance reveals the strange beauty of chaos: a place where humour, fear and imagination coexist. Mats and Rebecca explore how small moments of wonder and absurdity can profoundly shape our perspective and our experience of the world.
Guy Weizman and Roni Haver received the Golden Swan (the “Oscar” of Dutch dance awards) for their unique mark on interdisciplinary dance theatre.
They've managed to take the finite combination of four limbs each and weave it into thousands of beautiful, complicated connections. – LA Dance Chronicle
JA Collective is a collaboration between Los Angeles natives Jordan Johnson and Aidan Carberry. Their background in hip-hop, contemporary dance, and theatre gives their work a unique edge. Expect a fresh, energetic, and innovative perspective. By performing across multiple dance and multidisciplinary domains, they aim to challenge the art form and push it to new heights. JA Collective has collaborated with artists such as Frank Ocean, Paul McCartney, Justin Bieber, and William Forsythe. Their new work explores loss, grief, and healing, examining pivotal moments of change and their unique impact on each performer.
Rebecca Laufer & Mats van Rossum share an endless fascination with movement in dialogue with imagination. They believe that dance has a transformative power that transcends exclusive art circles. It is not meant for a select group of art lovers but for a broad audience. Their aim is to touch people from all walks of life, regardless of background or familiarity with artistic expression. By embracing inclusivity, they turn movement into a force that fosters understanding, empathy, and connection. Their new choreography and an immersive soundscape encourages the audience to reflect poetically on the present moment.
