'Ik zou liever Angel heten' is a theatrical feast in which characters, lyrics, costumes and situations alternate at a rapid pace!
A couple meets with friends in their cottage to compare lives, to get solace or something to aspire to. They are still waiting for Angel. Meanwhile, they drink. They drink and talk. Humanity, love perils and painful silences alternate. Are they really living their true lives? Or are they hiding behind the roles they have been assigned in life? As the evening progresses, the conversations become more intense and intimate; they seek the extremes of each other's vulnerability and do not shy away from extreme opinions. It also turns out that relationships are very different than they appear at first glance, and it becomes clear that in the end everyone is only playing a role.

‘Ik zou liever Angel heten’ is part of a series of three performances about acting that Dunselman has developed within the production house Mevrouw Ogterop. The first, Ik stond in een kutvoorstelling maar mijn haar zat wel heel goed, (after a text by Magne van den Berg) was about the role of an actress in a theatre world where the most important positions are still held by men.
Production house Mevrouw Ogterop was established by Schouwburg Ogterop in Meppel with an aim to develop professional performance in the province of Drenthe. The productions made by Mevrouw Ogterop are theatrical, stylistically distinct, with a social relevance and an eye for detail and quality. Lotte Dunselman is the artistic director.
