With IGNITE, Shailesh unleashes energy through every body, from the first breath to the last bead of sweat. It’s an ode to unstoppable energy, packed with extreme feats of strength and a depth that challenges our usual idea of power.
Because power is energy—and energy is everything. From the tension in your muscles to the tingling just beneath your skin. Once the match is struck, it’s all movement—pure, pulsing dance where hip-hop meets Indian hand gestures. Five performers push themselves to the extreme to reveal the deeper meaning of power. All you have to do is sit back and watch.
Shailesh Bahoran (1983) blends his background in hip-hop with contemporary dance, drawing inspiration from his Hindustani roots. A versatile dancer and choreographer, he is known for his strong technique, originality, and expressiveness. Hip-hop is in his DNA, but he isn’t afraid to break the mold. Since 2003, he has been creating performances with his own collective, Illusionary Rockaz Company. He has also collaborated with the Dutch National ballet, Don’t Hit Mama, Conny Janssen Danst, The Netherlands Philharmonic, Amsterdam University of the Arts, Korzo, and ISH Dance Collective.
