I May Fall into the Sound
| Duration | 105 min |
During Festival Dag in de Branding, The Hague’s stages, the Residentie Orkest, and various ensembles invite you to discover music so fresh and diverse that it offers a true cross-section of today’s soundscape. Catch performances across the city, meet the latest composers, and chat with musicians about their fascinations and intentions.
At Korzo, enjoy a double bill featuring Sketch 351 and the dreamy yet unsettling experimental pop of Show Pony.
As maker-in-residence at Dag in de Branding, this quirky contemporary music ensemble presents brand-new work inspired by the Fluxus movement of the 1960s and ’70s. That means they let chance itself guide the music-making process, making every performance truly one of a kind.
SKETCH351 playfully and accessibly merges art with everyday experiences. They use each specific location, whether it’s a bus or a concert hall, as an active part of the composition itself. Every performance is therefore different, full of new musical combinations and unexpected twists.
SKETCH351 describe themselves as “just a group of musicians trying not to fall into a collective identity crisis while carving their path through today’s music scene.” But make no mistake, they know exactly what they’re doing. And you’ll definitely hear it.
Laura Nygren is Show Pony and Show Pony is: “Like Björk on a good day.” This American contrabassist, vocalist, and producer creates dreamlike music inspired by Kate Bush and Radiohead—if they had both taken a trip to the future for inspiration.
Warm, sometimes unsettling voices flow over beats that are both crackling and serene. This evening, Show pony will perform tracks from her new album I May Fall into the Sound— an album inspired by human vulnerability in a climate crisis, centered on the island of Massancummock, which will likely have vanished entirely by 2026. Her music combines classical precision and emotional depth, drawing you in while keeping you on your toes. Just like the future itself.
