An all female rock performance about the Persian poet and filmmaker Forugh Farrokhzad, a theater concert about rebellion, life and death. Forugh Farrokhzad (1935 – 1967) is one of the most important poets of the 20th century in Iran. With her first poem Sin from 1958 about female sexuality, she is both famous and reviled. After gaining international fame as a filmmaker, she dies at the age of 32. In her short, free-spirited life, she continuously exceeded social norms. Forugh Farrokhzad is a heroine and inspiration to women around the world.
“There is no shortage of ugliness in the world. If man closed his eyes to it, there would be even more. But man is a problem solver.” (from The House is Black)
About HubaDe Graaff
When DeGraaff does something with the poems by Forugh Farrokhzad, it becomes ... different. Because like Farrokhzad, DeGraaff knows how to provoke with her work, as she has previously shown with her Pornopera, The Naked Shit Songs and the Apera. This performance is suitable for English speakers.
