Festival Dag in de Branding: Egg-citing

Duration 30 min
Part of Festival Dag in de Branding

What do eggs and ladders have in common?

Sketch351 has been obsessively tackling this impossible question for years. Is it just a double consonant, or is there a deeper connection? Can you eat ladders? Must you climb eggs?

In this performance, an apparently nonsensical obsession becomes the starting point for a musical exploration in which logic, structure, and meaning gradually unravel. With relentless energy and a precision that teeters on the edge of chaos, Sketch351 creates an experience where everything is at stake.

Expect nothing less than maximally organized disorder.
Or perhaps absolutely nothing, because even that takes on a new meaning here.

Sketch351 is an ensemble of cello, flute, percussion, piano, and trombone based in The Hague. As artists in residence at Festival Dag in de Branding, they have immersed themselves in the manuals of the Fluxus movement.

Their creations reflect the absurdity of everyday life and use the specific location, be it a bus or a concert hall, as an active part of the musical work. Each performance introduces new musical elements and combinations. Following the Fluxus tradition of the 1960s and ’70s, the focus is on the process of making art, with a playful and accessible approach that blurs the boundaries between art and the everyday.
