Conny Janssen Danst provides opportunities for young talent through DANSLOKAAL, the talent development project where young artists are invited to develop new work together with the dancers of Conny Janssen Danst.   

In its annual DANSLOKAAL the dance company opens its doors to a varied group of creative artists. For each event artistic director Conny Janssen, one of the leading choreographers in the Netherlands, selects promising choreographers with diverse backgrounds in collaboration with Dansateliers and Korzo. The contributors to DANSLOKAAL 10 are choreographers Zino Schat (Korzo), Dovydas Strimaitis (Dansateliers) and Remy Tilburg (Conny Janssen Danst). In DANSLOKAAL they get the opportunity to work on the development of their own signature within the professional context of the company. The result is a surprising dance evening with three new pieces, created for and with the dancers of Conny Janssen Danst.  

After a series of performances in the studio in Rotterdam, Conny Janssen Danst provides a nationwide platform to the young choreographers. Wondering what the results of this collaboration look like? Come and find out during DANSLOKAAL on tour!

Dansateliers en Korzo are the creative partners of DANSLOKAAL 10. 

Zino Schat (1989) has joined DANSLOKAAL 10 in collaboration with Korzo The Hague. He performed with his former group SkillDealers in the streets all over the world. After his experiences as a street performer, he choreographed and danced showcases for Queen Máxima and President Obama, among others.

His theatre career began as a performer with dance company AYA and Solid Ground Movement. Later in his career, he developed a deeper interest in choreography and worked with De Nationale Opera and the Nederlands blazers ensemble. He also founded Fractal Collective in which he fuses contemporary and urban dance into a new form with co-founder Conni Tromlitz.

Dovydas Strimaitis (b. 1997) has been added to DANSLOKAAL 10 in collaboration with Rotterdam-based Dansateliers. The Lithuanian dance artist graduated from Codarts in 2019 as a performing dancer, with internships with Jitti Chompee, Jan Martens and Marina Mascarell, and he has been since then a dancer with The National Ballet of Marseille.

Strimaitis already developed his choreographic oeuvre during his training. For instance, "Still Waiting" received the highest possible rating in 2018. He collaborated with several artists, such as with Estonian choreographer Maarja Tõnisson and in a music video/dance film for Julijona Biveinytė's. His solo "The Art of Making Dances" premiered in July 2021 and premiered in Lithuania.

Remy Tilburg (1989) graduated in Urban Contemporary (JMD) from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in 2015. Since 2014, Remy has been dancing with Conny Janssen Danst, where he has developed into a face-filling dancer of the company.

In 2021, with Emma Evelein, Remy won the NDT Partner Award at the RIDCC for their duet Fifty-one/fourty-nine. In the same year, he won the Dancers' Fund '79 Incentive Award. Besides choreographing music videos for artists like Jeangu Macrooy, among others, Remy set up his own programme: under the name IID, he gives workshops to promising dancers with a focus on developing their own identity.
