Dive Into the Mind of Marina Mascarell
De Nieuwe Dansbibliotheek presents the book launch of Het denken belichamen (Embodied Thinking) by internationally acclaimed choreographer Marina Mascarell. Originally published in Spanish, this influential book is now available in Dutch for the first time. It explores Mascarell’s vision of dance as a socially engaged and feminist practice.
Through panel conversations with dance makers from The Hague and a special workshop, you will be invited to explore and internalize her work. Please note that the workshop requires a separate ticket.
Artistic Director, Former Korzo Artist-in-Residence and NDT Dancer
Marina Mascarell is currently artistic director of Danish Dance Theatre. Between 2011 and 2021, she was a resident choreographer at Korzo, and during that period she also danced with Nederlands Dans Theater. Her approach to dance translates into new forms of collaboration, research, and choreographic practice, grounded in equality and aimed at moving the field forward.
Panel Conversation from a Feminist Perspective
During the panel conversation, we gather around the table with several younger female dance makers based in the Netherlands. Together, we explore how they relate to society through their artistic work from a feminist perspective. They examine concrete choreographies, strategies, and working methods, with you as a silent witness.
