Step into the world of Marina Mascarell
During this event, De Nieuwe Dansbibliotheek presents Het Denken Belichamen (‘Embodying Thought’), a publication by internationally acclaimed choreographer Marina Mascarell. Originally published in Spanish, the book is now available in Dutch for the first time. It explores Marina’s vision of dance through the lens of her work as a socially engaged and feminist artist. Through panel discussions with choreographers from The Hague and a special workshop, audiences will have the opportunity to explore her artistic ideas and make them their own. Please note: a separate ticket is required for the workshop.
Artistic director, former Korzo resident, and former NDT dancer
Marina Mascarell is currently the artistic director of Danish Dance Theatre in Copenhagen. Between 2011 and 2021, she was a resident choreographer at Korzo and also danced with the Nederlands Dans Theater. Her vision of dance has inspired new forms of collaboration, research, and choreographic creation. Grounded in equality, her work continues to push the dance world forward.
A panel discussion through a feminist lens
For the panel discussion, Marina will be joined by a group of emerging female choreographers from the Netherlands. Together, we will how their artistic practices engage with the world around them from a feminist perspective. They explore specific choreographies, strategies, and working methods, with you as a silent witness.
