Celebrating Differences

Makers Vainergill Thurnim & Zoë Greten
Duration 75 min

How do young dancers and performers view diversity?
In two dance performances by Get Moving, you will discover their refreshing perspective.

Celebrating Differences is the festive closing performance of Korzo’s Get Moving, an intensive programme for dancers and performers aged 15 to 25. Guided by makers Vainergill Thurnim and Zoë Greten, these young movers explored how differences do not have to drive us apart, but can actually bring us closer together.

During this evening, you will experience two dance performances, each offering its own perspective on diversity. Together with the performers, you are invited into their inner worlds: what they feel, what moves them and what they dare to share. Differences are not erased, but made visible, celebrated and shared.

Expect an evening full of energy, emotion, transformation and a shared love for dance. A meeting between makers, performers and audience, where vulnerability is not a weakness, but a strength.

Makers

Zoë Greten

Zoë Greten is a Dutch dancer and choreographer. She graduated from the Dutch National Ballet Academy and completed an internship with the world-renowned Nederlands Dans Theater 2. She has created work for Dutch National Ballet and continues to develop independent choreographic projects.
Zoë combines contemporary dance and the aesthetics of ballet with the dynamics and groundedness of hip-hop. In 2025 she received the Leo Spreksel Award.

Performance 1: One, not one

In One, not one, Zoë Greten explores the tension between individuality and the desire to belong. Through a strong group dynamic, the performers reveal how we constantly adapt ourselves to one another and to the expectations of a collective. As movements, rhythms, and choices increasingly merge, the question arises: how much space remains for the individual? The performance shows how connection can be empowering, while also highlighting the importance of embracing differences within a collective. The result is a layered choreography in which togetherness and individuality remain in continuous dialogue with one another.

Vainergill Thurnim

Vainergill Thurnim studied Dance Education at the Academie voor Dans en Theater. Her background is broad, ranging from popular to contemporary dance, with technical influences from (West) African dance traditions. She works with an open perspective and develops her choreographies with great care and precision. She has collaborated with, among others, Alida Dors, Danstheater AYA, and DOX. In her classes, everyone feels seen exactly as they are. With Vainergill, you discover how vulnerability can become a source of strength.

Performance 2: A-Part

In A-Part, Vainergill Thurnim explores what it means to remain true to yourself within a group. The dancers continuously move between closeness and distance, between belonging and claiming their own space. Through physical encounters, improvisation, and ever-changing group formations, a search for connection unfolds. Gradually, the realization emerges that genuine connection arises when we recognize our shared humanity. A-Part invites audiences to look beyond differences and discover what connects us as human beings.
