Jameszoo & Asko | Schönberg direct an algorithmic musical brain
Jameszoo wanted to disappear from his own music. That was a complete failure, in his own words. But somehow, it turned out to be a glorious failure.
The versatile Den Bosch-based producer developed an algorithmic musical brain that plays a piano and responds to the master musicians of Asko|Schönberg and Slagwerk Den Haag. And Jameszoo himself, like a surprised creator of his own sound universe, bombards them where he can with his cutting-edge electronics. A unique electro-acoustic tug of war that you will never forget.
Jameszoo, the alter ego of Mitchel van Dinther, is an internationally acclaimed DJ and producer of experimental electronic jazz. He himself coined it 'naive computer jazz'. On his latest album Blind (2022), Jameszoo experimented with instruments that play themselves by means of self-learning algorithms. The results have always been different. Jameszoos disclavier (robotized piano) is an invention in the tradition of Conlon Nancarrow's pianola études: music that is often physically impossible for humans to play.
