Biba Tula!

In a kaleidoscope of music, monologues and spoken word, the story of Tula is told: his struggles, his doubts, his powers of persuasion.

The narrative makes tangible the significance of Tula for his time, and for our time. Through spoken word, we are 'teleported' from 1795 to people's lives, today. This performance by Theatre for Keti Koti is musically performed in a special way by celebrated flautist Ronald Snijders and his ensemble.

Admission to this event is free. Do order a ticket via the button at the top of the page to ensure yourself a place.

Program

20:15 - Start performance in the Hall

In 2021, Theatre for Keti Koti was created to raise social awareness about the colonial and slavery past through culture. More and more institutions bring a programme on this theme around July 1. TvKK also initiates and supports youth theatre projects in the country. Biba Tula! is Theatre for Keti Koti's first in-house production.

On 3 October, outgoing Secretary of State for Kingdom Relations Alexandra van Huffelen will officially rehabilitate Tula on behalf of the Dutch government in Curaçao: the Curaçao resistance fighter who led the largest rebellion in the (former) Netherlands Antilles in 1795.

Rehabilitation programme in The Hague
In the Netherlands too, the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and the municipality of The Hague want to give attention to this important moment for Curaçao. To this end, a programme has been drawn up that will take place on 3 October next in Korzo Theatre The Hague. At the heart of this commemoration and rehabilitation of Tula is the performance Biba Tula! by Theatre for Keti Koti. We cordially invite you to join us on this occasion.
