Half concert dance, half Hunger Games, fully complicit
Opening act: No Limits! Art Castle
How do you survive inside a system that surrounds you completely and defines what is and isn’t allowed? Welcome to the arena of Asset, Liability & Equity: a world of razor-sharp concert dance and intense Hunger Games-style competition. Here, you're not a voyeur – you actively shape the outcome through your cheers and judgments. As the game spirals out of control, you're pulled into a world that feels uncomfortably close to our own. Whether you love it or hate it, the question is: can you handle it?
You help decide the outcome in an arena of brilliant dance
In this new creation by ARK / Connor Schumacher, an MC guides five performers through a ruthless game of power, value, and exclusion. Within a tightly constructed choreography of striking dance, they try to maintain or take each other’s “assets” (beauty, skills, audience favor) and “liabilities” (body, skin color, gender). As an audience member, you don’t just watch – you participate in a system where competition feels like love and empathy is mistaken for weakness. Who will take responsibility here?
From the Louvre to Korzo: social choreography under pressure
From Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (Depot) and the Louvre in Paris to major festivals and small theaters, ARK / Connor Schumacher creates social choreographies that move audiences everywhere. Their previous techno-jazz musical Raging Against Various Elements won the 2025 Zwaan Award for most impressive dance production. This is your chance to take part in a physical and social experience that exposes the mechanics of power, value, and empathy.
No Limits! Art Castle is an art organization that radically pushes the traditional boundaries of the art world. They bring together an unusually diverse group of artists, including makers with Down syndrome, sex workers, queer artists, and iconic performers. At the center is the question of who gets to participate in the art world and who does not.
The organization strives for equal, inclusive forms of art in which many ways of making, looking, and meeting come together. Their exhibitions and performances are playful, accessible, and provocative; full of experimentation, community, and the celebration of difference with a wide audience. In the world of No Limits! Art Castle, deviating from the norm is not only allowed, but seen as normal.
Founded in 2020 by Connor Schumacher, ARK/Connor Schumacher is a Rotterdam-based dance organization that brings social choreography to life. ARK’s work moves people, both physically and mentally, from the intimacy of theaters to the energy of festivals and clubs.
Its deep focus on essential soft skills was shaped through participation in international dance research projects such as Empowering Dance and Dancing Museums. This led to collaborations with institutions such as Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and the Louvre.
ARK creates productions such as Funny Soft Happy & The Opposite, Pilot PC, and Threesome. Recent projects include ClubINC, in collaboration with Theater Babel, and Physical Therapy, a concept for a sober morning rave. In 2024, the techno-jazz musical Raging Against Various Elements premiered. In 2025, it won De Zwaan award for most impressive dance production.
ARK’s philosophy is rooted in neuroscience and psychology, working toward a social dance culture that understands: society would be better if we danced everyday.
