AN(I'M)A

Step into a visually overwhelming world where dance, theater, a velvety male voice, pop elements, Venezuelan folklore, Caribbean rhythms, and opera seamlessly converge. In AN(I’M)A, vulnerability is not a weakness but a strength. 

The prevailing idea of what it means (or should mean) to be a ‘man’  is humorously sung to pieces in this dance opera by artist and singer Lester David. On stage, a man falls apart. His old identity crumbles, creating space to embrace his inner feminine power: the path to true balance. Will you come and meet the man of your dreams? 

Cecilia Moisio is an unconventional creator, choreographer, and director. Her work blends dance, theater, live music, documentary, and performance art, exploring societal and psychological themes with a sharp focus on identity, gender, trauma, memory, and vulnerability. She calls her style psychological activism: performances that make the unspeakable visible and tangible, inviting the audience to reflect and engage. 

Her work is physically intense, emotionally layered, and visually powerful, with a bold peppering of humor to make weighty themes more accessible. She creates performances for audiences of all ages and is able to reach a wide range of viewers with her powerful visual language. For her distinctive, socially engaged approach, Cecilia Moisio has been awarded the Prijs van de Nederlandse Dansdagen (2014) and the Prijs van de Nederlandse Dansdagen Jong Publiek (2018). 

Lester David is an award-winning artist (choreography, theater), music producer, and artistic and creative director from Caracas, Venezuela. His work explores how art can heal and expand collective consciousness.
