The power of the gaze
It started with a rather explicit ballet piece for that time (1912): Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune by Nijinsky. Choreographer Dunja Jocić wondered what would happen if she were to transform the silent faun (a kind of mythological human being) from that piece into a nymph. What if the one who was always observed suddenly looked back? Dunja shows us with her 7 almost liquid dancers that you can make an old classic mega relevant again. Because even more than 100 years after Nijinsky's piece, taking up space is still not self-evident for many women. Discover this cinematic performance with old music by Debussy in a new guise by Jonathan Bonny.
Dunja Jocić creates cinematic dance performances that expose the depths of the human spirit. In her award-winning work, you can feel her background in ballet and that of a top athlete in the former Yugoslavia. As a much sought-after choreographer for major ballet companies in Germany, Italy and Switzerland, she is rising through the glass ceiling with her international reputation.
