Lose yourself in an endless dance trip
In their Club Invites series, Club Guy & Roni ask affiliated dance makers to create new works. In this third edition: the Finnish choreographer and theater maker Cecilia Moisio.
Cecilia Moisio – ADI(C)SCO
ADI(C)SCO is a seemingly endless dance trip in search of intoxication and a continuous losing of yourself; AKA an addiction. The performance exudes the atmosphere of the disco era, in which the club scene and drugs became popular. ADI(C)SCO is a party that spirals out of hand and never ends. With this performance, Cecilia Moisio wants to address the taboos and shame surrounding addiction. Moisio herself grew up with an alcoholic father and therefore has a strong motivation to discuss this topic.
"“For me, it’s super important to expose young and talented choreographers to a wider audience, and also at the same time expose our audience to a new generation of makers. That is what Club Invites is about; celebrating talent.”"
— Roni Haver
Cecilia Moiso is fascinated by why we behave the way we do because of society's rules and expectations. She calls herself a 'psychological activist' because she always wants to find out the reasons behind our feelings and actions, and she likes to challenge her audience with unspoken taboos.. In her shows, she reveals the fake fronts people put up. Moisio mixes different styles like theater, dance, and performance art in her own unique way. Her performances are lively, filled with intense emotions, humor, and well-choreographed dance moves. Cecilia has worked with Club Guy & Roni several times and created "V," one of the biggest hits at the Parade festival.
