Tú Hoàng

Tú Hoàng (1988) is a choreographer and dancer from Hanoi, Vietnam. In his choreography, Tú aims to combine his oriental background in Kung Fu and Tai Chi with Westen dance genres such as hiphop, ballet and contemporary. His goal is to create a unique artistic identity. 

Tú Hoàng will be artist in residence at Korzo starting in 2025.

Tú's journey in dance began at the age of 10 when he started practising kung-fu. This sparked his interest in movement as a whole, which led him to join the Vietnam National Dance Academy with a specialisation in Classical Ballet.

In 2007, Tú moved to Europe to further explore contemporary dance. From 2010 onwards he has focused more on choreography, aiming  to combine his oriental background in Kung Fu and Tai Chi with Westen dance genres such as hiphop, ballet and contemporary. His goal is to create a unique artistic identity. 

He has received multiple accolades for his works. For his piece Trial he was awarded first prize at the New Dance For Asia in Seoul, South Korea, and Audience First Choice Award at Tanzplattform Bern. For his recent piece False Memories, made in collaboration with Hiro Murata, he won the first prize at the 27th Masdanza Choreography Competition and at the Hannover International Competition. 

Tú has also danced in renowned ballet companies such as the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet, Cinevox Junior Company, Regensburg Ballett, BallettPforzheim, Byaccident Dance, Ballett Stadttheater Pforzheim, and Conny Janssen Danst.
