Fay van Baar

Fay van Baar’s choreographic work grows from her experience as both a dancer and performer. Her practice is rooted in close attention to the body, music and atmosphere, creating work in which movement can feel natural and detailed at the same time. She is interested in how small shifts in movement, energy and presence can change the way we experience a space.

Her nine years with Nederlands Dans Theater brought her into close collaboration with a wide range of choreographers and artistic disciplines. This experience continues to shape her own approach to making work. She combines a strong physical awareness with sensitivity to rhythm, atmosphere and the individual qualities of the performers she works with.

As a Korzo NDT maker, Fay is part of a joint initiative by NDT and Korzo that supports dancers in developing their choreographic practice. Her work brings together movement, music and atmosphere in carefully composed choreographic worlds, while leaving space for interpretation and the individual qualities of the performers.
