The Hague municipality awards Korzo with positive advice
The municipal advisory board for multi-year arts & culture grants has released their advice reports for the The Hague and Korzo has been awarded with a positive advice. That means that Korzo can count on ongoing financial support from The Hague municipality.
This is the end result of a process that already started last year. Past January was the deadline for submitting our plans for the coming four years. We’ve put a lot of love and hard work in this so-called Kunstenplan and today the advisory board released their advice reports, wherein Korzo gets a positive advice for another four year grant.
Essential for upcoming makers
The advisory board sees Korzo as ‘an institution with a clear signature when it comes to developing talented makers.’ The board is convinced that Korzo is ‘a trailblazer in the area of innovation and experiment, by cleary focusing on projects with an innovative and developmental nature. Korzo lives up to it’s ambitions and is of great meaning to talented makers in The Hague.’
An excerpt of the conclusion of the report: ‘The board sees Korzo as a powerful production house that puts talent development forward in a convincing way. Korzo has a unique position in the various chains of the dance sector in the Hague. The theatre and production house is a trailblazer when it comes to innovation and experiment, by focussing on projects with an innovative and developmental nature. The board sees Korzo’s role as an institution of development – combined with a multidisciplinary approach – as imperative for the city’s makers climate.’
Korzo’s general director Gemma Jelier is happy and proud. ‘It gives me great joy to read about the trust the municipality has in Korzo. In the report, I read the appreciation of our role as a cutting-edge theatre and creative producer. In the coming four years we wish to grow even more in these roles and that’s possible with a multi-year funding. I’m proud of the role we have in the dance sector in the Hague. Our doors will always be open to new and talented makers with fresh ideas and an audience that’s up for an adventure.’
