Discover Korzo's new season
We’re in full swing this autumn, but we’re also looking ahead. That’s why we present the second half of the season! With familiar faces, new makers to meet and many premieres.
We’re already off to a great start in January with the premiere of Tender Resistance, brand new work from upcoming maker in residence Faizah Grootens. This lunchtime performance - 14, 15 & 16 January - explores the power of tenderness and how complicated it is to remain vulnerable in a world full of conflict, judgement and harshness. We’re also really excited for Korzo x Marta & Kim. In this series, a maker that sparks our curiosity takes over the Korzo stage and this edition features the duo Marta & Kim, who blend circus and dance in a unique way.
A very uncomfortable thing will be Unease. This new work by Jelena Kostić revolves around all kinds of human discomfort: physical, mental and social. What do we as humans prefer to look away from? And why do we find comfort and convenience so important? In February we welcome a true star with YAV. YAV is a dancer, singer and professional whirlwind: you can't take your eyes off him. In his work Movements of Soul, he challenges you to explore the meaning of the performance for yourself.
Yogamats and passio, no passion
In February, get out your yoga mat for Atem. Silbersee and soprano Elisabeth Hetherington – who won the Nederlandse Muziekprijs this year - will take you on a meditative experience and incorporate you in their performance. A unique show you can experience in your chair or from a yoga mat. In any case, you will experience music in a unique way at Korzo, because at Sofia Jernberg's show all the lights go out for an hour as part of Earth Hour. It gives you the chance to marvel even more at the unique voice of Jernberg, who uses unconventional techniques to make the most of her vocals.
In spring we won’t serve you a St Matthew Passion, but a the Female Passion with Lucie de Saint Vincent's Passio. She proposed a contemporary oratorio in which actual Passion stories of various female characters serve to invent a new future.
