The contemporary circus theatre festival Cirque Mania is almost here!
Cirque Mania is the festival where Korzo offers a stage to national and international circus talent. From March 25 to 28 2021 we organize the festival fully online containing works of new talents and established names. The festival location of this edition is online in Studio X (x.korzo.nl) the newest location ‘in the cloud’ with a Theatre, foyer and Pop-Up room. From the 25th of March we open the online doors of the festival in Studio X. From this moment you can enjoy the festival program we created for you.
We start at the 25th of March with our Coffee Conversations in cooperation with Festival Circolo. Journalist Annette Embrechts talks to the creators who will show their work during the online premiere of Great Catch. While enjoying a hot cup of coffee, they go into depth about their productions in order to bring it to the attention of the circus field. You can register, for free, here.
Saturday 27 March at 19.30 (CET) we start with the Open Studio of Michael Zandl. After this, the festival will be officially opened by head of programming for theatre and circus for Korzo, Daphne van Iperen. After this you can enjoy the warm-up for Great Catch and then the premier will start. You need a ticket (and code) that you can order here. We finish the evening with a toast on Zoom together with Daphne, our partners, artists and audience. So grab your bubbles and join our Zoom!
At Sunday March 28 you can view Great Catch all day ‘On Demand’ in Studio X. Buy a ticket here (you will receive a code) and enjoy the performance at the time that you want. At 14.00 you can enjoy the Dutch premiere of LOCKDOWN and after this we continue with the Panel Talk. Moderated by Jolanda Spoel (Bijlmer Park Theater), we talk with Laura van Hal among others. At 15.00 we start the online performance of LOOP by TENT (you need a ticket ‘pay what you want’ and receive the code for the Theatre in Studio X after).
In the spotlight, our fist circus maker, Michael Zandl. Together with David Eisele and Kolja Huneck he takes us backstage during the Open Studio of the new performance Sawdust Symphony. Do you want to be a part of this? You can sign up, for free, here.
You can also watch the new film of Zandl, LOCKDOWN. Inspired by the performance Janus by Michael Zandl, French TV made this short movie in collaboration with Les Films Jack Fébus. This movie will be screened exclusively during Cirque Mania in the Studio X Pop-Up room. After the showing, Daphne van Iperen, will talk with Michael, who has been associated with Korzo’s production house since 2021. The film and interview are for free but you can register here to receive information about the performance and some Xtra’s.
Don’t forget to visit our Pop-Up room during the Cirque Mania festival. Here you will find a poster exhibition, tutorials (especially made for practice your own circus skills) and the context program of Codarts Cicus Arts.
