Event in the past.

Justin de Jager’s work is notable because of his specialisation in so-called ‘threading’. This is a movement concept taken from breakdance where optical illusions are created in various ways with the body in an apparently endless series of movements. The complex partner work involved in threading takes the spectator into a hypnotic trance.

In the disarming Through, Justin de Jager dissects before your eyes the apparent magic trick that threading seems to be. In his creation he looks back on his early career as a choreographer: the lonely first steps, the fragile experiments, the struggle and doubt, the renewed inspiration and the collaboration. The solo leads into a duet with Justin and his good friend and dance partner of many years, Tosca Knauf.

In 2021, the largely self-made artist Justin de Jager received the Leo Spreksel Award for young choreographic talent. Through is the result of the residence connected to the Spreksel Award.

After the performance, the award ceremony of the Leo Spreksel Award will take place on stage.
