An illusory location performance at Maakhaven that challenges the rules of physics with bowling balls and crampons.
‘Alexander Vantournhout: the circus talks about it , just like the dance,’ Le Monde wrote. For the CaDance festival, the Flemish circographer and five dancer-acrobats travel to The Hague for a location project at Maakhaven.
Join us for a journey past a series of micro-performances that stand the relationship between body and object on its head in a wide variety of ways. Objects are attached to the body and offer support and grip, help to keep the performers in balance of just slightly off balance. They make sure that gravity can be overcome or that can be felt all the more. With the aid of crampons, a bowling ball, and other objects, the dancers challenge the laws of physics in Screws.
You will see five micro-performances: from short solos and duets to sharp group choreographies. The five performers take you out of your comfortable chair to get you, the spectator, moving, literally. Walk around. Let yourself be drawn into the experience and choose from which angle you wish to view the individual miniature compositions.
Performance suitable for everyone from the age of 12.
‘As always, Vantourhouts work is so ingenious that is impossible to describe. You can only look on in concentration and admiration at the phenomenal physical intelligence displayed here.’ – De Standaard about Through the Grapevine
