Sarada Sarita

Sarada Sarita (1987), originates from a family of dancers and was one of the firsts to introduce voguing in The Netherlands. This style emerged in the Black and Latinx LGBTQIA+ community in Harlem, New York and imitates the poses of the models that adorned the covers of Vogue. As voguing celebrates expression and freedom, marginalised people in New York found their safe space for self-expression. New Way Vogue is a category within Vogue Performance and Sarita is it's Dutch figurehead. It is no wonder that she won the Zilveren Krekel for best stageperformance in youth theatre for her rendition of the witch in the ballet fairytale GRIMM by ISH & Junior Company. In 2019, together with Christian Yav & Sedrig Verwoert, she also won the BNG Bank Dansprijs.
